Elmwood Dallas

Elmwood is located in Dallas' central Oak Cliff neighborhood. The neighborhood is located near Allen in the neighborhood of Greenfield in the middle of Dallas, Texas. It borders the limestone Cedar Creek banks. Elmwood was a Tennessee Farms dairy before it was acquired in 1924 to be used for residential development. Elmwood has a population of approximately 7,044 residents and counting.

Elmwood has seen many architectural developments over the past thirty years. There are Tudor cottages with distinctive brick and stone exteriors. Brick or wood cottages can also be seen. Stained glass windows can also be found in these homes, which give them a beautiful charm.

Elmwood Parkway is the foundation of the neighborhood. It begins at Cedar Creek, the northern end of Elmwood. Then it stretches south down Rugged Branch to the southern side of Elmwood. The park is full of mature vegetation and habitats for many species of wildlife. It's a popular area for walking, running, or just relaxing.

A small center for commercial activity is located in Elmwood, just near Edgefield Avenue. This business district includes a few small commercial structures, professional offices, and various houses of worship. It also has a Masonic Hall. This location was chosen for the filming of the parade series "Born on the Fourth of July".

Elmwood is surrounded by parks and green space, and it's only 15 minutes from the southwest area of Downtown Dallas. Two DART rail stations are located in the neighborhood. There is also easy access by road that connects it to all city amenities. The area is subject to heavy traffic jams at night and in the morning.

The stately shingled homes designed by Bernad Maybeck and Greene and Greene and West Coast Arts & Crafts architects are some of the most sought-after real estate in Elmwood.

College Avenue is Elmwood's main shopping area. It hosts many restaurants and shops.

Schools

Among the many schools located in Elwood are Elmwood Elementary School and Elmwood Park High School. John Mills Elementary School, Elmwood High School and Elmwood Primary Learning Center are some of the others.
